Our area

Surrounded by beautiful scenery, South Armagh is an area rich in culture and history. As part of the ancient Oriel area, South Armagh is overflowing with arts, history and language that stems from the old oral tradition which has had a lasting impact. The area has been renowned throughout the country for it’s poetry and song for centuries. We also have a long history of native Irish speakers in the area.

The limits of the South Armagh area is considered to be the Slieve Gullion electoral constituency which is part of Newry, Mourne and Down council. However, our work reaches those beyond these limits and all are welcome to join.
